The 94.7 Highveld Stereo and Bidvest Hear for Life Trust has already changed the lives of 22 hearing impaired patients and is proud to announce another beneficiary.
Joy Steele is a 76 year old pensioner who is still very active but has been growing progressively deaf for years.
She is now profoundly deaf and hearing aids are no longer effective. In 1980 Joy was fitted with an older version of a right cochlear implant, which benefitted her hearing until it stopped working a few years ago and could not be repaired as this type of implant is no longer made.
It was removed last year as it became susceptible to electrical interference and due to cost restraints could not be replaced. Joy has had a new multi-channel nucleus implant fitted in her right ear. |
